Legacy Building

See that beautiful woman with me in my profile picture?  That's my Grandma.  And yesterday, her children, grandchildren and most of her great grandchildren, along with her brother, sister-in-law and friends, celebrated her 93 years of the life that God has granted her thus far on this earth.

You'll have to forgive me as I have tears pouring down my face as I type this post. She's the one my love for cake decorating is dedicated to.  She's the one who has inspired me to use my creativity with buttercream and baking and give it all back to the glory of the Lord.  She's the one who looked at me yesterday as I was sharing with her my new business venture and said, "see, I knew you could do it!" :)   My Grandma loves the Lord, she loves her family, she is dedicated to the service of God and of others.  She is blessed.  And we are beyond blessed to be part of the plan that God has for her.

The cake I baked for her this year wasn't elaborate, it wasn't large, and awe-inspiring.  But it was filled with about as much love and prayer as I could possibly pour into it.  A prayer that I can continue to create and build a legacy such as she has for our family, and give it all back......to the glory of the Lord.

A baby is a most special gift

My niece, Kayla, and her husband Gordon, are expecting their first child.  A boy.  Rylan Evan. :)  Kayla is a soldier in the USAF.  We are SO proud of her & her decision to join the Air Force, make a good life for herself & her family, and serve our country with honor.  Mike & I have a special place in our heart for her and Gordon, as this is exactly how we started out.  Mike joined the AF and left, shortly after we were married, for basic training.  He served our country proudly for 9 years.  I have to say, that was some of the most difficult times in our marriage, but it was some of the best times too.  We grew up a lot and learned to rely on our faith, each other, and had awesome support from fellow soldiers and their families.

Kayla & Gordon, your Uncle Mike & Aunt Kim are here to support you, love you and pray for you.  Always.  We CELEBRATE with you as you welcome your precious son, your firstborn, into your life.

I was honored to make Kayla's baby shower cake this past weekend. :)

A Most Special Wedding

I have a dear friend, Holly, who has waited a long time for that special guy to come along and sweep her off her feet.  Brian did just that.  It was my distinct pleasure to travel 5 hours with their wedding cake and I was honored to be a part of their special day.  Once again, I loved being able to pray over this couple and their marriage and ask God to richly bless them in their lifetime together.  It was just extra sweet because Holly, and now Brian too, means so very much to me.
